Eligibility

Control when your links are active and how many times they can be used with scheduling options and usage limits.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

The Eligibility card allows you to control when and how your links can be used. This includes scheduling their active periods and setting usage limitations.

Schedule

Add a schedule to your link to control when it will be active. You can set specific start and end dates with precise times, and add custom messages to display when the link is inactive.

Key scheduling features:

  • Start date and time: When your link becomes active

  • End date and time: When your link automatically deactivates

  • Custom messages: What customers see when trying to access an inactive link

Usage limit

Set usage limits to control how many times your link can be used, either on a per-customer basis or as a general limit.

Setting a usage limit

  1. Toggle on the Usage Limit option

  2. Choose between "Customer" or "General" limit type:

    • Customer: Each customer can only use the link once

    • General: The link can only be used one time by any customer (first come, first serve)

Customer-based usage limits

When you select a customer-based usage limit, you'll need to add a Shopify checkout rule:

  1. Go to your Shopify Settings → Checkout

  2. Scroll to the bottom to "Checkout rules"

  3. Click Add Rule

  4. Select "Checkout Links Usage Limits"

  5. Choose whether to "Allow all customers to complete checkout"

  6. Click Save

  7. Turn on the rule using the toggle in the top right corner

Use cases for usage limits:

  • One-time promotional offers

  • Limited quantity special edition products

  • Personalized customer discounts

  • Exclusive VIP access links

  • Flash sales with limited availability

Combining schedule and usage limits

For maximum control, you can combine both scheduling and usage limits on the same link. For example, you might create a weekend sale that's available for 48 hours and limited to one purchase per customer.
