The Build a box template creates a popup where customers fill a box with products of their choice — and unlock rewards like discounts, free shipping, or free gifts as they add more. Great for snack boxes, samplers, drink packs, and any mix & match bundle.
Use this template when you want customers to pick their own combination of products from a curated set — with an incentive to fill the box. It replaces hand-building the slots cart, progress bar, and tiered promotions block by block.
Open a checkout link and toggle Popup on
Click Edit to open the block editor
Click the templates icon in the editor header and pick Build a box
Walk through the four steps below
Review the summary and click Apply
Pick the products customers can choose from — either specific products or a whole collection.
The maximum number of items the box can hold, from 1 to 20. Each slot holds one item.
Choose Fill any amount to let customers check out once they've added at least one item, or Require a full box to keep checkout disabled until every slot is filled.
Each slot count gets its own optional reward. Click Edit on a tier to give it a discount (percentage or fixed amount), free shipping, a free gift, or any combination. Leave tiers empty for no reward at that level.
Rewards behave like a ladder: discounts upgrade as customers reach higher tiers (a 15% tier followed by a 20% tier gives 20%, not 35%), free gifts stack (each reached tier's gift is added to the cart), and free shipping stays on once its tier is reached.
Applying the template replaces the current blocks with a ready-to-use box builder:
Header — your store branding
Callout — a green highlight saying "Build your box — up to N items"
Progress bar — fills as items are added, showing the next reward (only added when you set at least one reward)
Cart items — displayed as slots, so customers see exactly how much space is left
Products — the products or collection you selected, kept visible after adding
Cart summary — subtotal and total
Checkout button — to complete the order
The reward tiers are written to the link's Promotions, so they apply at checkout — not just visually in the popup.
Every block stays fully editable after applying — tweak the callout wording, colors, or add more blocks.
